UFC Latest League To Join AGA Responsible Sports Betting Campaign

The UFC is teaming up with the American Gaming Association (AGA) to promote responsible gaming as the mixed martial arts organization will join the AGA’s Have a Game Plan. Bet Responsibly public service campaign.

The UFC joins other sports such as the National Hockey League, the PGA Tour, and NASCAR as a partner of the AGA’s campaign to promote responsible gambling in sports betting. Sportsbooks such as FanDuel have also joined the campaign.

As per UFC President Dana White in a press release:

“We have the most passionate, die-hard fans of any sport and they love to bet on UFC, but it’s important they do it responsibly.

“We’re proud to work with the AGA and get behind this campaign to encourage our fans to make smart decisions and promote responsible gaming.”

“The UFC will use its own in-venue, digital and broadcast assets to promote co-branded marketing materials in a bid to promote responsible sports betting.”

What’s the AGA Responsible Gambling Campaign All About?

The American Gaming Association, the national trade group for the US casino industry, launched its Have a Game Plan campaign in 2019. The objective of the campaign is to educate fans about the importance of responsible betting on sports.

President and CEO of the AGA, Bill Miller, pointed out that as sports betting expands across the US, professional sports leagues recognize the need to educate fans and ensure that they’re wagering safely.

Twenty-five states and Washington DC have passed laws legalizing sports betting. Sports betting is up and running in 21 of those states. Legal sports betting is now available to over 100 million adult Americans.

Miller added that the AGA is thankful to see its responsible gambling campaign grow as progressive leagues such as UFC lend their support.

“UFC’s commitment is important to engage, educate and encourage their fans – some of whom may be placing bets for the first time – to wager responsibly,” he said.

Through the Have a Game Plan campaigns, players have access to information such as the basics of sports betting and understanding betting lines. Most importantly, there is an emphasis on recognizing the signs of problem gambling.

FanDuel as First Mobile Sportsbook to Pair with AGA

In March, FanDuel became the first mobile sportsbook to join the AGA in its responsible gambling campaign. The iconic DFS and sports betting group committed to working with media, teams, and league partners to promote responsible gambling across multiple media outlets.

FanDuel also committed to providing substantial resources to promote the campaign and build a consortium of partners to push the initiative and drive it even further in the US sports betting industry.

FanDuel’s coming on board was just the latest in a string of significant partnership deals signed with AGA. The first was in September 2020 when it partnered with NASCAR. The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing provides fans with original, responsible gaming content on its official NASCAR.com website, including odds and stats.

Shortly after the NASCAR deal was signed, the NHL came on board. The hockey league felt that it was important that fans know how to participate in safe and responsible sports betting.

In January 2021, the AGA announced a partnership with the PGA Tour in the lead-up to sports betting going live in Michigan and Virginia.
