PokerStars COOP: New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Michigan

PokerStars COOP Heads to MI PA and NJ

PokerStars’ Championship of Online Poker (COOP) gets underway this month in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Michigan. For the first time, the COOP will run in each state simultaneously as it awards $4.5 million across all three series. Players can compete from September 10 to 27 on PokerStars in each state.

Details of the COOP

The number of tournaments, buy-in amounts, and prizes up for grabs are based on location. The Pennsylvania Championship of Online Poker (PACOOP) and the Michigan Championship of Online Poker (MICOOP) will have the most significant amount of cash on offer, followed by the New Jersey Championship of Online Poker (NJCOOP).

The PACOOP will feature 65 events and have $2 million in total prize money. The MICOOP will have the same number of events as PA but a lower $1.5 million in prizes. For the Garden State, the schedule includes a minimum of 60 events and $1 million in prizes. Altogether, that’s just shy of the $5 million PokerStars guaranteed during its Spring Championship of Online Poker.

Each of the series will offer a multitude of tournament options with different variants and formats. Buy-ins will start at just $10, giving players of all bankroll levels an opportunity to compete. Of course, the big draw of the series will be the Main Event, which will last two days in all participating states.

The Main Event has a common buy-in of $300, but the guaranteed prize money will vary. Pennsylvania has the highest guarantee of $200,000, followed by Michigan at $150,000 and New Jersey at $100,000. The winners of each Main Event will earn a trophy from PokerStars.

Win Your Way Into the COOP

It wouldn’t be a PokerStars tournament series without multiple ways to win a seat to a COOP event. PokerStars will offer several options for players in each state to compete for tickets to events.

Players who want to vie for a seat in the Main Event will need to participate in $3 Spin & Go’s or the Depositor Freerolls. The $3 Spin & Go will offer Main Event satellite tickets from now until September 26. This is a great way to play for a spot in the anticipated tournament.

From now through September 26, players can also deposit $30 or more to earn a COOP Depositor Freeroll ticket. Each state requires a code that coincides with the series. Pennsylvania players use PACOOP, Michigan uses MICOOP, and New Jersey uses NJCOOP at the time of deposit. The freeroll will offer 50 Main Event seats to participants.

PokerStars is also providing Second Chance Freerolls. This is common for the online poker site. Any player competing in a COOP tournament that does not cash out will receive a Second Chance Freeroll ticket. Each freeroll will provide $5,000 in tickets to COOP events.

The full schedule of events and details of satellites are listed on the PokerStars blog or within the poker client in your state. Take part in satellites now to try and earn tickets to the COOP events.
